Security High, Resolve Higher: Delhi Braces for Nationwide Youth March
By the evening of July 19, 2026, national capital New Delhi has witnessed an unprecedented influx of students, youth collectives, and citizen organizations arriving from across the country. They are gathering for the peaceful "Sansad Chalo" (March to Parliament) scheduled for Monday, July 20, 2026.
The nationwide call to march comes at a time of extreme tension at Jantar Mantar. Over the weekend, Jantar Mantar became a flashpoint when Delhi Police forcefully moved educator Sonam Wangchuk to Safdarjung Hospital, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke entered an indefinite hunger strike, and an assailant hurled blue ink at Dipke during a public address.
Heavy Security and Section 144 Deployments
In anticipation of the march, Delhi Police and paramilitary forces have set up multi-layered barricades around Jantar Mantar, Parliament House, and key entry borders leading to the capital. Section 144, which prohibits the gathering of four or more people, has been strictly enforced in administrative zones.
Protesting groups traveling from Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, and Karnataka reported intensive identity verifications and temporary blockades at borders. However, student unions have declared they will employ decentralized, silent, and entirely peaceful formats to circumvent forced dispersals.

From Jantar Mantar, where his hunger strike has entered its second day, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke addressed supporters via a web broadcast. Traces of the blue ink thrown at him were still visible on his clothes and banner.
"They threw ink, they deployed barricades, and they took Sonam Wangchuk ji to a hospital against his wishes. But they cannot stop the millions of students who have been cheated of their futures," Dipke declared. "This is a decentralized movement of India's youth. No single detention can stop a nation-wide march for justice."
Unified Core Demands
The "Sansad Chalo" march has consolidated its focus around four non-negotiable national demands:
- Dismantling of the NTA: Scrapping the National Testing Agency and reverting to transparent, state-level examination systems.
- Resignation of the Union Education Minister: Immediate resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan to accept political accountability for the NEET-UG 2026 leaks.
- Judicial Inquiry: A Supreme Court-monitored investigation into paper leak syndicates and police high-handedness.
- Ecological Safeguards: Constitutional guarantees protecting the fragile Himalayan and regional ecosystems of India as demanded by Sonam Wangchuk.
Regional hubs in Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Mumbai have announced synchronized regional demonstrations on July 20 for supporters unable to reach the national capital.
