Cockroaches Score First Wicket
In a stunning development that marks a rare ministerial resignation under public pressure, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan tendered his resignation on July 25, 2026.
The move comes after weeks of relentless protests led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar and across the country, demanding accountability for alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG examination and broader exam system failures.
Pradhan posted a letter on X stating he was stepping down “so that anti-national forces do not take advantage of the circumstances… and so that our children can focus on their studies.”
CJP’s Response: Democracy Wins — But Not Yet Over
CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke, who is currently battling typhoid and receiving IV treatment, hailed the resignation as historic.
“Dharmendra Pradhan has resigned and this is the proof that if you don’t get scared, you can win… This is the first wicket. We won’t stop here.”
In a video address to supporters, Dipke declared:
- â‚ą1 crore compensation for families of students who died by suicide linked to exam failures remains unmet.
- No prosecution of peaceful protesters and withdrawal of FIRs.
- Action against police officials involved in the July 20 lathi-charge and tear-gassing during the Sansad Chalo march.
- A public apology from Delhi Police and RAF.
“We are cockroaches. Once it enters, it does not leave,” Dipke warned.
CJP’s official handle posted a triumphant message: “Cockroaches won… democracy won! Jai Hind.”
New Minister Takes Charge
Union Minister Prahlad Joshi has been given additional charge of the Education Ministry while continuing as Consumer Affairs Minister.
What Next?
Despite the resignation, CJP has made it clear the sit-in at Jantar Mantar and nationwide solidarity actions will continue until the remaining demands are fully met. Dipke, though unwell, continues to lead from the protest site.
This is the first time a senior minister in the Modi government has resigned purely under sustained youth-led pressure.
The cockroaches are not leaving yet.
