Formal Intimation, Not a Permission Plea
On 7 October 2026, CJP co-convener Saurav Das went to Parliament Street Police Station to file a written intimation for the 10 October gathering at Jantar Mantar.
PTI recorded Das en route. ANI reported the filing the same morning. Demand on the letter: resignation of CEC Gyanesh Kumar and rollback of SIR rolls.
What the Filing States
- Site: Jantar Mantar, named as the designated protest ground.
- Date: 10 October.
- Cooperation: Letter says CJP will coordinate on security, law and order, and traffic.
- Form: Intimation, not an application for permission.
"Today we are providing formal intimation to ensure they cannot later claim they were not formally informed."
"We have come here to provide intimation; there is no scope for rejection or acceptance, we have simply informed you."
Sequence on the Record
- Earlier verbal notice already given, per Das.
- Written letter filed 7 October after Opposition MPs' march to the ECI, which the Commission said it had not been formally notified of.
- Das repeated that a stop point, if police halt the march, becomes the sit-in site.
Kolkata Note
Feed already carries the 4 October split: WB minister Dilip Ghosh called the Kolkata CJP action a stunt; Mamata Banerjee said full support. No new Kolkata assembly time was posted on X in the last 24 hours.
X posts from 7 October also flag Maharashtra Police notices to volunteers on Delhi travel costs. Dipke's line, as circulated: "Is saving Gyanu really that crucial?"
