Crime Branch Appearance on 5 November
Cockroach Janata Party leaders Saurabh Das and Ashutosh Ranka arrived at the Delhi Police Crime Branch office in Rajouri Garden after summons to join the investigation.
The probe covers the 13 October entry into Jantar Mantar, a site denotified for protests. Police allege trespass through private premises and breach of earlier peace bonds.
Funding Allegations
- Union Minister Jitendra Singh stated in Bengaluru that founder Abhijeet Dipke received funds from US-based donors.
- Singh claimed Ranka was paid by Pakistani politicians and intermediaries.
- Allegations link the funds to campaigns opposing the Election Commission's Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.
"There is enough evidence to show that they are being funded by unauthorised sources, by anti-India NGOs, and anti-India organisations within and outside the country."
CJP Response
Ashutosh Ranka posted on X: "Paper leak kisne karaye? Pakistan. School barbaad kisne kiye? Pakistan. Vote chori kisne krwayi? Pakistan. Desh mein berozgaari kisne failayi? Pakistan."
CJP has rejected the claims as baseless. No independent verification of the funding allegations has been publicly released.
Prior Context
Das and Ranka were released from Tihar after seven days in judicial custody following SEM orders and written undertakings. Multiple cases related to the Jantar Mantar incident remain under Crime Branch investigation.
