Cockroach Janta Party Moves Beyond Jantar Mantar
In the wake of forcing the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and securing key assurances on FIR withdrawals and exam reforms, the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) is pivoting to a sustained nationwide grassroots campaign.
Speaking on Friday, CJP spokesperson Saurav Das confirmed the group aims to build an organisational structure with cadres in every district. The focus: public assemblies in villages, listening to young people's concerns on unemployment, inflation, food security, and holding the government accountable for promises made to India's youth.
"We want to take this movement to the grassroots, because people at the grassroots face a lot of issues and nobody hears them out."
No Immediate Electoral Plans
Das clarified there are no immediate plans to register as a political party. Instead, CJP will travel across the country, organise assemblies, and demand greater accountability — keeping pressure alive on police excesses during the July protests via its digital evidence repository 'Saakshi'.
Ongoing Vigilance on Assurances
While celebrating the historic win that saw a Modi cabinet minister step down under public pressure for the first time, CJP continues monitoring implementation of the July 25 guarantees. Recent statements from Das emphasise legal support for students still facing FIRs and assert that "Gen Z cannot be intimidated."
On X, discussions around CJP's next phase mix support for the youth-led model with political speculation about potential hijacking by established parties. Local chapters in Bihar, Chandigarh and elsewhere remain active in highlighting related student issues.
The movement that began as online satire has evolved into a serious force for examination justice and youth accountability. With district-level organisation on the horizon, the cockroach is settling in for the long haul.
