Ink Attack During Peaceful Assembly at Jantar Mantar
On the afternoon of July 18, 2026, Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke was targeted in an ink attack while addressing student volunteers and protesters at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi.
The incident transpired shortly after Dipke had launched an indefinite hunger strike to protest the forced removal and hospitalization of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk by Delhi Police. According to eyewitness reports from Jantar Mantar, a woman approached the podium and threw a blue ink-like substance directly at his face and clothing, causing immediate disruption at the site.
Swift Volunteer Response and Police Handover
Following the sudden disruption, CJP volunteer security and student coordinators acted swiftly to restore order. The incident was reported by local media outlets, confirming that the attacker was immediately apprehended by the demonstrators and subsequently handed over to the Delhi Police personnel deployed at Jantar Mantar.
Local authorities have since taken the individual into custody, and an inquiry is underway. The identity of the assailant and the underlying motive behind the attack remain unconfirmed by police officials.
"Blue is My Colour... Jai Bhim!": Dipke Responds
In the aftermath of the attack, Abhijeet Dipke refused to halt the protest. A video statement published by Abhijeet Dipke on X showed him with his face still covered in the blue ink, captioned:
"Blue is my colour… Jai Bhim!"
Dipke asserted that physical intimidation would not derail the movement's focus on national educational reforms, the scrapping of the National Testing Agency (NTA), and accountability for the NEET exam paper leaks.
Escalation of Demands and 'Sansad Chalo' March
The attack comes amid heightened tensions at Jantar Mantar, which has seen continuous youth-led demonstrations enter their 25th day.
A source within the Cockroach Janta Party confirmed that the planned march will proceed as scheduled. According to CJP central coordinators, more than 500 student volunteers and civil society members from regional hubs, including Kolkata, have already arrived in the capital to participate. The indefinite hunger strike by founder Abhijeet Dipke marked its 1st day.
